Dorothy and Paul Gutierrez are award winning Santa Clara artists who specialize in Figurines and Mudheads. They have been creating these works of art since 1964. They work as a team, with Dorothy forming the figures and doing the firing and Paul doing the sanding and polishing work. Every step of the process, from gathering the clay to firing the piece outside, follows traditional Santa Clara pottery making methods. They have won many awards for their work, including shows such as the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Eight Northern Pueblo Show, the NM State Fair and the Gallup Indian Ceremonial. The Gutierrez family biography can be found in many books including "The fourteen Families in Pueblo Pottery," by Rick Dillingham.
