Acoma Pottery - Corrine Louis Horse Hair Etched Seed Pot

This Acoma Pueblo Horse Hair pot is made by award winning artist, Corrine Lewis and is etched with geometric designs and a decorative Kokopelli design. It is signed by the artist as shown in the photos. This is a short, wide seed pot, nicely decorated.

This Acoma Horsehair pot by Corrine Louis measures approx.: 1.5" high x 5.5" wide; 1" mouth

Corrine Louis is a member of Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico. She is an award winning potter, born in 1959 and is considered the innovator of horsehair pottery. The idea came to her when one of her own strands of hair fell on the pottery and scorched the pot. It was from this accident that the idea of using such a method to decorate pottery was invented. She and her husband, Gary Louis, developed the technique using horsehair.

Corrine Louis has won awards at the New Mexico State Fair, Albuquerque and is listed in many publications.
